OCEANThe coastline of South Africa is influenced by the warm Indian Ocean running along it’s East Coast and the cool Benguela Current running along it’s West Coast. The two oceans meet at the Southernmost tip of Africa in a place called Cape Agulhas. Between June-November Southern-Right whales flock to the Southern Cape making for spectacular land and boat-based whale watching. For an even closer encounter take a sea-kayak tour that will get you right in amongst the action. South Africa is also seen as a top destination for kitesurfing and surfing. The Billabong Pro is held every July at the world famous Supertubes in Jeffery’s Bay and attracts professional surfers from around the globe. There are also numerous surf schools around the country and Muizenberg is a beginners paradise. South Africa’s coastline is rich in marine life and there is excellent scuba diving and snorkelling. South Africa also boasts superb Deep Sea Fishing and there are many charter companies based in coastal towns around the country. A sailing trip or sunset cruise is the perfect way to enjoy a beautiful day, and what better way to watch the sun go down in Africa.                |
