Centrally located in the Breede River Valley, Worcester is surrounded by distant mountains and bountiful vineyards. About an hour outside Cape Town this historic town is situated on the main road (N1) between Cape Town and Johannesburg making it an ideal place to stopover.
This valley is the largest producer of wine in South Africa and many award winning vineyards are located in it’s surrounds. The country’s largest brandy distillery is also found here and a visit to the KWV Brandy Cellar is well worth a stop.
The Karoo Botanical Garden is also found just outside Worcester. The diverse and unique flora of the arid Karoo can be found in this small nature reserve.
Another point of interest in Worcester is the only gliding airfield in the Western Cape. The local weather conditions make it an ideal gliding location year round and visitors are welcome.
